OpenTZT Manager Help File

  1. "Launch App/Set INI" Tab
  2. "Material Handler" Tab
  3. "MIDI" Tab

"Launch App/Set INI" Tab:

- Raise TZT Process Priority - This will raise the OpenTZT process priority to High

- Write Debug.txt File - Unless you really like reading debug message your should turn this off. ;)

- Run TZT In Windowed Mode - This is actually a toggle between windowe mode and full screen. Click it on to run oTZT windowed and click it off to run oTZT in FullScreen mode.

- Enable Dual Monitor - In FullScreen mode this will run the 2nd output fullscreen on your 2nd monitor. In Windowed mode this does nothing.

- Enable Clone Window - In Windowed mode this will open a clone window that you can place manually or with the Clone Position text boxes. In full screen this does nothing.

- DirectX DirectDraw Emulation Mode - This is used to emulate some of the GPU functions in the CPU. You should try this setting both on and off to see what works best for you. On my desktop this makes no difference, but helps considerably on my laptop.

- Enable VSync - This will force OpenTZT to obey the rules of the VSync. This only works in FullScreen mode.

- Enable AVI Record Function - This allows you to record your output to file by pushing Shift-F12. In order to setup the record settings you must run the SysData\vcpWriter.EXE program.

- Enable Quicktime - Turn this on if you would like OpenTZT to load .MOV and Flash/SWF files. oTZT relies on Quicktime to load Flash files, so they will not work if you turn this off.

- Enable Playback Position - This enabled the red moving playhead indicator that shows per clip. You may be able to increase performance if you turn this off. Try it both ways and see what works best for you.

- Disable Alotting Material to Q - Keeps all the Q keys open so you always have access to blanking out a player.

- Page Sync Material/FX/Presets - This keeps all your Materails and Effects and Preset pages synced across the banks and folders. I.E., they all change together when you push the F10 and or F1-F9 keys.

- Refresh Frequency of Preview in Milliseconds - 1000 milliseconds is 1 second. This allows you to set how often you want the mini-monitor window to update. The mini-monitor is used to show you whats currently happening on the non-active bus.

- Default BPM - This is the BPM oTZT uses when it loads up. To change the BPM you can tap the "Home" or "F12" keys along with the beat.

- Max FPS - this is the maximum FPS oTZT will run at. For the purposes of speed testing clips and FX you may want to set this to the maximum frequency of your monitor. For live shows it's probably better to set this around 30 (some people think 25 is sufficient).

- Clone Position X/Y/Width/Height - These entry fields allow you to manually specify where the clone window should position itself. They are good for emulating a "Dual Mode" by specifying the area of your 2nd monitor. Stretching the 2nd monitor output may cause degrades performance, so if you can run it at the same resolution the oTZT is running internally this will save you some CPU cycles.

- 3D Quality - Sets the detail level used in the 3D FX.

- Select Midi Device - This works in tandem with the selection box located on the MIDI tab. It will show you a list of the current midi Devices along with the one specified in your TZT.INI if it is not currently connected.

- Save - Saves the current setting to the TZT.INI file

- Language Support - There are currently 3 options; English, German, English Laptop. Anyone with a standard english keyboard will want to pick English. pleXus in Germany provided the mappings for the German keyboard. English laptop is for anyone with a laptop that doesn't contain a full keyset (like many Toshiba's).

- Defaults Text - this allows you to specify the text that loads into the text area field of oTZT at startup.

- Show Fader Value - Enables or Disables the FX Fader Values being Displayed under the Players. You may be able to increase performance by disabling them.

- Show Auto Preset Player - The A.P.P. is currently in Beta and not fully functaional. Use at your own risk.

- Max Banks - This allows you to specify up to 9 banks for Material/Effects/Presets. The defaults and minimum is 3. If you are running out of room for you clips you may want to increase this number.

- Manual Only KeyMap.INI Files - This will keep oTZT from loading any Materials and/or Effects not already found in KeyMap.INI files into the UI.

"Material Handler" Tab:

This tab is a work in progress and should be ignored for the time being.

"MIDI" Tab:

Midi Learn List - The list of all keycommands that can be controll through the MIDI interface. After you select which MIDI Device to train from (and push the MIDI Learn button) you select an item in the list to train (by pushing the key or twiddling the knob/controller). For knob/controller function you can set the Abs(olute)/Rel(ative) property as well. This will allow you to specify if oTZT reads the absolute value of the MIDI information being passed in or if it remaps the MIDI range into the acceptable range of the input.

Select Input Device - This allows you to select which MIDI device you'd like to train. The device must be plugged in and turned on for this to work.

Data Passed/Channel/Controller/Value - These are just status boxes so you can see when activity is happening. Don't expect these value to mean anything specific as they are raw perparsed machine information provided as general activity feedback.

No Duplicate Midi Entries - Enable this to stop from programming the same MIDI controller/key to more than 1 oTZT function.

Midi Learn - Click this button to start the MIDI learn process.

Stop Learn - Click this button to stop the MIDI learn process.

Write Midi.Ini - Click this button to save the current MIDI learn setting in the TZTManager to file.
